Individual and Family Counseling

One-on-One Therapy

Individual counseling is an opportunity to get one-on-one support with a licensed mental health professional (therapist/counselor). Individuals who are experiencing difficulties and challenges in their life, perhaps with areas such as anxiety, depression, problems with interpersonal relationships whether it be in a marriage, with children or family, a counselor can help you work through some of these difficulties. Other areas such as challenges with parenting, transitions in life, and career problems are also other areas that can be explored with a counselor.

Individual counseling allows the client to work with a counselor to explore feelings, emotions and behaviors related to their problems. The counselor can help you gain insight into your problems and to identify areas where change could occur. Counselors work to build rapport and trust with clients in order to facilitate the client’s willingness to open up and share their problems. Providing a safe space based on a foundation of trust helps a client feel accepted allowing them to be vulnerable, ultimately creating a foundation for personal growth.

Family Counseling

Daily life stresses on individuals such as financial stress, work stress and other mental health challenges can oftentimes place a person under a lot of pressure, making it difficult to balance between the problems we experience in our personal life with a healthy functioning family life. This as you can imagine might put families under a significant amount of stress, even putting a family into crisis.

Challenges in a marriage and behavioral problems from children are other areas that could greatly affect the family as a whole. The need to work through problems and find ways of coping and improving communication between different family members, are some of the ways that counseling might help facilitate insight and understanding for a family to function better.

Counseling can help families learn the tools to work through difficult situations. It also offers a place for family members to communicate better with each other and improve their relationships. Counseling offers a way forward. As you work With your counselor, the counselor will help identify problem areas and work towards improving outcomes in those areas.
